I’m Baaaaaaack…
Wow, that was a really long week! I had been feeling a bit overwhelmed and down about my blog, and my photography, and had planned on taking a week off. It’s now been longer than 3 months, and I figure it’s about time to get back to it. Funny how, once you get behind, it gets harder and harder to get caught up, right? During my time off, I didn’t stop taking photos, but I sure wasn’t taking a photo every day. The longer I went without blogging, the more the photos just collected on my computer sitting gathering virtual dust.
Up to this point, I’d been putting each blog and photo into a scrapbook. Unfortunately, when it came time for scrapbooking this month, I had nothing to put into my photo album. So instead, I used the time to get caught up on all my photos, so that I could get them posted and move on with my project.
Rather than overwhelm my readers (at least those I have left LOL!) with ALL of the photos I have for the last 3 months, I am going to post a few at a time. That will allow me to get back into the habit of blogging and give you all a chance to see a few photos at a time. (Man, this blogging thing is harder than I remember!)
Because I didn’t take photos daily, I’m going to count each day I DID take photos as a day toward my 365 project. The days I skipped will not. In addition, some of the pictures will warrant comment, but others will not, so I’ll just label them the project day and move on. If you’d like more explanation, please feel free to post your question below.
Here we go:
Day 204
I was still taking a class downtown at this time (late October), so this is a wall mural I found off of Walnut Ave (I think).

Day 206
This ivy was growing horizontally along this wall. I thought it was pretty cool, especially the contrast of the vivid red and the beige wall.

Day 203 – Picture in Picture
It’s been kind of nice the last few days to let someone else choose the general subject matter, and today’s no exception. Today’s Daily Shoot photo challenge was to “Double your art today. Make a photo of something you’ve created or crafted.“
I made this counted cross-stitch maybe 15 or 20 years ago. I’m kind of surprised I didn’t initial and date it, since I did that for most of my work. I remember I got this pattern out of a magazine and thought it was so peaceful. I love mountains, so it just called to me. I also really like the way I matted and framed the design. The colors were just perfect.

Day 202 – Glitz and Glamour
Today’s Daily Shoot challenge was to Make a photograph of an object or surface that has a glint or a sparkle in it today. Back in the day, I used to work at a bead store, mostly to feed my addiction to making jewelry. When I saw today’s challenge, I knew exactly what I wanted to shoot. These are tubes of seed beads I had left from several projects. Sparkly, huh? I’m sure I’ll use them someday……. 😉

Day 201 – Hemp Happiness
Today’s daily shoot challenge suggested: Make a photograph of a curved line or spherical surface today. This ball of hemp cord fit the bill.

Day 200 – Moving Forward
Today is day 200 of my journey. Not too shabby, considering I’ve only missed one day in all that time. Today’s photo was taken indoors. I feel kind of bad about that, since the weather was so nice, but I think I have caught a cold, and it was all I could do to drag myself to do laundry. Ironically, considering I have very little energy, I took a photo of the front “wheel” of an exercise bike. I thought the pattern the wire cage made around the fan blades was pretty interesting. I put it in black and white because color wasn’t essential to this photo.

Day 199 – Flaming Tree
I was up bright and early to go to my friend’s house for round 2 of scrapbooking. I got a LOT done in our two-day cropfest (I’m only 2.5 weeks behind now!). Before I left home, I noticed how the sun was shining on the one tree with pretty leaves on it. With the hot, rain-free summer, the leaves are pretty much turning brown and falling off. Only a few trees are really giving out the color. This one in particular is a flaming red color. I love Fall!

Day 198 – Mum’s the Word
Tonight, I went to a friend’s house for the start of a weekend of scrapbooking. I was going to take a night shot after I left her house, but her mums were so pretty that I had to take a photo.

Day 197 – Tails and Top Hat
Back to class, back to wall murals. I’m sure this is supposed to be someone famous, but I’m drawing a blank. Anyone have any ideas?

Day 196 – A Lot (of Nothing) on My Plate
Fall is my favorite time of the year, except for the stinkin’ allergies that come with it. My head has been pounding today, and my sinuses are, well, uncomfortable to say the least. I came straight home after work and didn’t feel like doing much of anything. It got to be 10 pm and I realized I hadn’t taken a picture today.
I got out my cell phone, since it seems that I’m less inhibited about taking photos of “normal” stuff when I use it. I wandered around taking random photos, until I came across the paper plate. I really liked the repeating pattern of the fluted edge. I went and got my big camera, in order to capture the depth of field I really wanted in the ridges. I played with the white balance on the camera, but the plate still ended up a little yellow, so I changed the photo to black and white. It’s not profound, but I kinda like it.
